The New Mexico Goatheads, proud affiliates of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and AHL's Colorado Eagles, announced today that forward Jake Chiasson has been recalled by the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League (AHL), becoming the first player in Goatheads franchise history to earn an AHL call-up.
Chiasson, 23, is expected to be in the lineup for Colorado tonight, marking a historic milestone for the Goatheads in their inaugural 2026-27 season.
One of New Mexico's inaugural alternate captains, Chiasson was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The forward entered this season with 40 career AHL appearances and 102 ECHL games under his belt.
Chiasson has been a key contributor to New Mexico's offense early in the season, including a three-assist performance in the Goatheads' first franchise victory, a 5-1 win over the Tahoe Knight Monsters on October 24.
The recall represents another milestone for the Goatheads and highlights the organization's role in developing players for the Colorado Eagles and Colorado Avalanche.
Chiasson is expected to suit up for the Eagles tonight as Colorado continues its 2026-27 AHL season.
