NHL Affiliate and Mascot Reveal Set for February 21

Something Big Is Coming This Way

The New Mexico Goatheads are taking another major step toward the 2026–27 season, and fans are invited to be part of the moment.

On Saturday, February 21, the Goatheads will host a public announcement event at THE BLOCK in Rio Rancho, where the organization will officially reveal its NHL affiliation and introduce its long-awaited mascot for the first time.

The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 11:00 a.m. MT and the announcement taking place shortly after 12:00 p.m. MT.

This milestone marks a defining moment in the launch of the New Mexico Goatheads as the franchise continues to build toward the return of professional hockey to the state. The affiliation announcement will shed light on the team’s development path, while the mascot reveal introduces a new face that will represent the Goatheads in the community for years to come.

Fans attending the event will be able to shop for exclusive Goatheads merchandise, interact with team staff, and be among the first to meet the new mascot. Following the announcement, guests are encouraged to stick around as THE BLOCK hosts the Men’s Hockey Bronze Medal Game from the Winter Olympics on the big screen beginning at 12:40 p.m. MT.

The Goatheads also announced that THE BLOCK will serve as the official watch party location for all New Mexico Goatheads away games during the 2026–27 season, giving fans a dedicated home base to gather and cheer on the team.

No RSVP is required to attend, though fans are encouraged to let the team know they’re coming to help with planning.

As the countdown to puck drop continues, February 21 represents another exciting chapter in the Goatheads’ journey — and a chance for fans to experience it together.
