Goatheads Add AHL-Experienced Forward Jake Chiasson

The New Mexico Goatheads have added another experienced forward to their inaugural roster, signing Jake Chiasson to an ECHL contract for the 2026-27 season.

Chiasson joins New Mexico with three professional seasons under his belt, including 40 career games in the American Hockey League (AHL), the primary developmental league below the NHL. Last season, he appeared in 20 games with the Belleville Senators while also recording eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) in 14 games with the Allen Americans.

“Jake is a talented, versatile forward who brings size, skill and a strong hockey IQ to our lineup,” said Head Coach Zack Stortini. “He has the ability to make plays, contribute offensively and play in different situations, which will be extremely valuable for our group. We believe Jake will be an important piece of what we’re building here in New Mexico.”

Originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, Chiasson began his professional career in 2023-24 with the Fort Wayne Komets. He recorded 20 points (9 goals, 11 assists) in 68 games while also making his AHL debut with the Bakersfield Condors.

The Abbotsford, British Columbia native spent the following season between Belleville and the Orlando Solar Bears, appearing in 19 AHL games and adding seven points (1 goal, 6 assists) in 20 games with Orlando.

Across three professional seasons, Chiasson has appeared in 102 ECHL games, recording 35 points (12 goals, 23 assists), along with 40 career AHL appearances.

The Goatheads open the 2026-27 regular season on Friday, Oct. 16, against the Idaho Steelheads at the Rio Rancho Events Center.
