Goatheads Add Toughness with Forward Dakota Seaman

The New Mexico Goatheads have added a physical presence to their inaugural roster, signing forward Dakota Seaman to an ECHL contract for the 2026-27 season.

Seaman joins New Mexico after spending the 2025-26 season with the Tulsa Oilers, appearing in 24 games during his second season in the ECHL.

“Dakota is a competitive, hard-working player who brings energy and purpose every time he steps on the ice,” said Head Coach Zack Stortini. “He plays with an edge, isn’t afraid to get to the difficult areas, and competes every shift. His toughness, character, and team-first mentality fit exactly with the identity we’re building here in New Mexico.”

At 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, Seaman has built a reputation as a hard-nosed competitor who brings toughness and physicality every time he steps on the ice. The 25-year-old isn't afraid to drop the gloves and has accumulated 90 penalty minutes across 42 career ECHL games.

Seaman has spent time with the Tulsa Oilers, Allen Americans, Wheeling Nailers and Indy Fuel during his ECHL career.

His path to the ECHL began with the Watertown Wolves of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), a lower-level professional hockey league. Seaman appeared in 85 games over two seasons with Watertown, racking up 334 penalty minutes before earning an opportunity at the ECHL level.

The Prescott, Ontario native now brings that same edge to New Mexico as the Goatheads continue building their inaugural roster.

The Goatheads open the 2026-27 regular season on Friday, Oct. 16, against the Idaho Steelheads at the Rio Rancho Events Center.
