GOATHEADS ACQUIRE FORWARD LUKA BURZAN FROM SOUTH CAROLINA

RIO RANCHO, N.M. – The New Mexico Goatheads, proud affiliates of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and AHL’s Colorado Eagles, announced today that the team has acquired forward Luka Burzan from the South Carolina Stingrays in exchange for cash considerations.

Burzan, 26, returns to North America after spending the majority of the past three seasons playing professionally in Europe. The Surrey, British Columbia native spent the 2025-26 season with UTE in Hungary's Erste Liga, recording 23 points (12G, 11A) in 30 games.

During the 2024-25 season, Burzan played in Slovakia with HK Dukla Trencin before joining the Odense Bulldogs in Denmark. He recorded 22 points (7G, 15A) in 35 regular-season games with Odense and added 12 points (4G, 8A) in 17 playoff appearances, helping the Bulldogs capture their first Danish Championship.

Burzan previously spent parts of four seasons in North America between the AHL and ECHL. Originally selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, he appeared in 34 AHL games with the Colorado Eagles and Cleveland Monsters, recording six points (4G, 2A).

At the ECHL level, Burzan has totaled 74 points (32G, 42A) in 86 career games with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Fort Wayne Komets and Utah Grizzlies.

Burzan returns to the Colorado Avalanche organization through its ECHL affiliate as the Goatheads prepare for their inaugural regular-season opener this Friday, Oct. 16, against the Idaho Steelheads at the Rio Rancho Events Center.
